Hontiveros Reportedly Plans for Hunger Strike Over Marcos Hero’s Burial

Senator Risa Hontiveros feels devastated after the Supreme Court decided to allow former President Ferdinand Marcos to be given hero’s burial at Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The Supreme Court broke our hearts.

This was how Sen. Risa Hontiveros on Tuesday described the high tribunal’s decision allowing the hero’s burial for the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Hontiveros said the SC ruling intended to “effectively wipe the Marcos slate clean and negate the sacrifices of the thousands of brave souls who fought and suffered under the brutal Marcos dictatorship.”

“The Supreme Court has failed miserably the test of history band broken our hearts. By allowing the remains of the late Ferdinand E. Marcos to be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani, the high tribunal has failed to protect the truth from the Marcoses’ fictional universe,” Hontiveros said in a statement.
On Tuesday, one of the senator’s top aides said in a statement that the former is allegedly planning to do a hunger strike in front of the SC building starting Saturday.
“Nabanggit nya sa amin sukdulang mag hunger strike siya para lamang i-reverse ng SC ang ruling laban sa paglilibing kay Marcos sa LNB”, the aide speak on condition of anonymity.
Hontiviros is a staunch Marcos critic and vowed to “do everything in her capacity to block Marcos burial at LNB”.
The aide said several activists are planning to do the same on Saturday. She did not say how long the senator will not eat but said “it will be longer” and they are preparing for it./Brenda Gaspar/
