BJMP spokesperson J/S Insp. Xavier Solda said the Maute patriarch was in critical condition when he was rushed to the Taguig-Pateros Hospital at around 3 p.m. 

"This afternoon, before we rushed him to the hospital, he was experiencing difficulty in breathing after his blood pressure shot up," he added.

Cayamora had diabetes, hypertension and hepatitis even before his detention but there is no official cause of death yet, Solda also said.

Other members of the Maute family detained at the Special Intensive Care Area in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig were given the chance to view the corpse.

Cayamora's body was then brought to the Golden Mosque in Quiapo. He will be buried in a Muslim cemetery in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

According to Sultan Panangan Tamambiling Pangandaman, Cayamora's body arrived at the Golden Mosque past 7 p.m.

Cayamora's family have been informed of his death but no one from his family was seen in the mosque.

"Marami kamag-anak 'yan pero no one will come out and say I am a relative," Sultan Pangandaman said.

Sultan Pangandaman maintained that Cayamora did not know anything about the attack on Marawi City.
